| WORLD WIDE WEALTH |
What did Mother Teresa mean when she said that the true poverty was in the West, and it was the poverty of spirit – the poverty that occurs when we are disconnected? What did Buckminster Fuller mean when he said there was already enough resources for us to end poverty and create a world of sustainability, and all that was required was for our consciousness to catch up with our technology? I believe that they both meant we had the shared resources, but potentially not the will nor the method to harness our resources effectively. In the last ten years, it’s obvious there is plenty of will to effect global change. The question is now is how. How do we organise ourselves, to move from a system of buckets to put out our fires, to a plumbing system that assures sustainable flow? Corporations, institutions and governments are organised as buckets to contain. Traditional media is also organised in buckets – or controlled channels. The Internet, social media, global markets and entrepreneurship are organised as plumbing systems that do not restrict flow, but enable it. That’s the concept of World Wide Wealth: A plumbing system that we can each participate in, where we link together through circles of trust, so that we reduce noise and we increase connection. Where we reduce ineffective action and we increase effective transaction. That’s how microfinancing and microphilanthropy has flourished in recent years. That’s the basis by which entrepreneurs from Steve Jobs to Oprah Winfrey to Warren Buffett have made their billions – through the same principles of trust and flow, leading to attraction and transaction. XL2020 Vision paints a picture of a world where we have thought through and acted on effective global solutions to achieve the United Nations Millennium Goals. XL Nation is the global nation I am helping to grow, which has within it five fundamental principles to guide us to World Wide Wealth. These are include: | • | A shared declaration of interdependence: We ask why we are separate, and then see as nations we have all signed declarations of independence. XL is the first global nation which begins from the opposite statement. That our interdependence is the first thing to recognise as our guiding principle. When we operate as go-givers instead of go-getters through effective giving, we create different structures and solutions that solve the question of how to give more effectively (which results in equity and enough for everyone), rather than how to get more effectively (which results in inequity and never enough for anyone).
| | | | | • | A shared code of trust: Leverage mechanisms in themselves breed distrust. The wild west and high seas were the place of cowboys and pirates. The Internet and our cities today provide the same leverage and lead to the same distrust. How do we effect global change while retaining trust? XL Nation has adopted the same principles that have enabled every trusted society to grow and then leverage technology to achieve a global nation. We begin with an XL Citizens’ Code of Conduct and XL Circles of Trust where we all become accountable to friends we trust and respect. | | | | | • | A common language of flow: Why can we easily play football in another country even when we don’t speak their language? Because football itself is a language – with rules that everyone understands. We have set up global languages for everything from sports to driving a car to trading on a stock market. We have been missing a language for global effective giving. Wealth Dynamics gives us that language, and we now use it to build our teams, direct our time and connect our resources across cultures and countries. | | | | | • | A common currency of trade: Why is it we can go to any country to connect and our government is happy to tax our phone calls, yet when we go to give, we cannot get tax exemption unless our giving is through a recognised charity back home? Our national debt-based currencies sustain national governments but restrict us from effective global change. In XL Nation we are revolutionising our means of exchange. The XL Infinity Market, which will be launching in late 2009, will provide us with the XL Florin – a global value-based community currency that operates on negative interest. | | | | | • | A pure global democracy: Technology has decentralised almost all our nodes of flow: Our entertainment, education, stock markets, trading markets, conversations. What we needed to go to one place for we can now do from anywhere. Except for one – government. 18 million voted Obama as the Democratic Presidential Candidate. 100 million voted in the last American Idol. Mobile phones can do the job of ballot boxes far more effectively. In XL Nation we have monthly votes through our global Senate and Forum, which means there is little need for an elected central government to make the decision on the most important issues on our behalf. | How does XL Nation work? You can join XL Nation as an XL Citizen or as one of 3,600 XL Founding Members, who are shaping XL Nation for the future. Simply visit http://www.xlnation.org
